Things to do in London this Christmas
Christmas is one of the busiest times of year in London, as there is so much for tourists to see and do. Westminster’s 3 star Elysee Hotel take a look at some of the best attractions to see and do over the festive season.
West End Christmas Lights
From mid-November, the West End is lit up with some majestic Christmas lights. All of the major stores along Regent and Oxford Street put on dazzling displays, which sparkle and shine. Best of all, the experience is completely free!

Ice Skating
London has a number of ice skating rinks, providing fun for all the family this Christmas. The pick of these is probably the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. London’s largest, open-air ice skating rink covers 1400 square metres and can accommodate up to 400 skaters at any one time.
As well as the ice rink there is also a toboggan slide, a traditional German Christmas market and a giant 50m high observation wheel, offering magnificent views of the Park and surrounding area.
Open from 10am to 10pm, entrance to the park is free. However, due to popularity, advance booking of ice skating is advised.
If you’re looking for a hotel near to Hyde Park, the Elysee Hotel is perfect, as it is just 1 mile away.
The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree
Every year, Trafalgar Square receives a 20 metre high Christmas tree as a gift from Norway, as thanks for the country’s help during the Second World War. This magnificent spectacle is lit up from the first Thursday in December until twelfth night, when it is taken down.
Trafalgar Square is around 3 miles away from the Elysee Hotel.
